QEEG

A QEEG is simply a map of your brain. This is important because it measures and analyzes your individual brainwaves and tells us how your brain works and how much power it has when it is in each state. We are then able to compare your brain map with that of healthy individuals of the same age by putting it through a normative database. By comparing the two, we are able to come up with a treatment plan that is specifically tailored to your brain’s needs to get you on the right path to a happy, healthy brain!
Mind Over Matter utilizes a 19-channel cap that is placed on your head. Then, we fill each electrode with a sea-salt gel to proliferate the connection to your brain and connect the cap to your ears. We then use Q-Check to validate the connection and start the test. The tests consist of two ten-minute sessions: one with your eyes opened, and one with your eyes closed. All you must do is sit still and let the equipment do its job!
Our brains utilize five different types of waves that allow us to complete various activities including eating, sleeping, studying, and more! The types of brainwaves are: Delta, Theta, Alpha, Beta and Gamma. Each mode operates in a different frequency, or speed, which is measured in Hertz (Hz). We can effectively measure these brainwaves to tell us how your unique brain is currently operating and how they are communicating with each other across the different areas of your brain, and at what speed. Let’s take a deeper look into each of the five:
Gamma Waves
Gamma: This is the fastest brain wave ranging from 40 Hz to 200 Hz. These are your active thinking waves associated with high levels of attention and perception.
Beta Waves
Beta: These brain waves range from 13Hz to 40 Hz. They are associated with decision making and concentration.
Alpha Waves
Alpha: These brain waves range from 7Hz to 13Hz. They are associated with relaxation and an overall calm feeling in combination with alertness.
Theta Waves
Theta: These brain waves range from 4Hz-7Hz. They are associated with REM sleep, and meditation. The natural ground force of the earth gives off theta waves.
Delta Waves
Delta: These brain waves are all less than 4Hz, and are associated with deep sleep. If an individual is lacking in delta waves, they may be waking up feeling unrefreshed, and unrested.
